Are you passionate about community?

Join Food etc as a volunteer and help empower people to make better food choices through our unique cooking courses.

We are a Bedford-based community organisation dedicated to teaching parents and children (and others) how to cook delicious, healthy, and affordable meals—skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.

As a volunteer, you’ll primarily work directly in schools or nursery schools, guiding small groups of parents and children through our six-week cooking courses. These sessions, which take place either during the school day or after school, are not only about teaching recipes but also about inspiring confidence in the kitchen and fostering a love for nutritious food.

You’ll see first-hand the joy on children’s faces as they discover new ingredients and the pride in parents as they master a recipe they can recreate at home.

We believe in equipping our volunteers with everything they need. We pay for your DBS check and food safety training. Plus, you’ll receive full support from our team every step of the way. We also offer additional training opportunities, so you can grow your skills and knowledge while making a difference. And rest assured you’ll be fully insured too with our comprehensive liability insurances.

Volunteering with Food etc isn’t just about the work—it’s also about being part of a friendly and fun community of like-minded people. We have regular get togethers where you’ll have the chance to connect with other volunteers who share your passion for food and health, making new friends and enjoying social events together sharing your experiences of our work and, of course, food!

Whether you’re a seasoned cook or just someone who cares about healthy living, your contribution can have a profound impact. By volunteering just a few hours a week, you’ll help create healthier, happier communities, one meal at a time.

Join us today, and together, let’s inspire families to take control of their health and well-being through the power of cooking.
