Market traders for the day

Children and teachers from Priory, Cauldwell and King’s Oak primary schools and The Place Programme grew fruit and vegetables at school and also took part in vegetable-based cookery workshops funded by Harpur Trust. They then became market traders for the day selling the produce they grew at Bedford Market. They had great fun displaying setting up their stalls, talking to customers and raising money for the local foodbank.

Food etc helped to bring this exciting in initiative to the town in partnership with School Food Matters as part of their Young Marketeers Programme, which has been running for over 15 years and is well established in a range of towns and cities throughout the UK.

We were so proud that the market day was featured by the BBC as well as on BBC Three Counties Radio and ITV Anglia news.
