Our virtual cookery workshops zoom into action

Yesterday was the first in our series of virtual cookery workshops with a lovely group from CHUMS Young Carers Service, which supports children and young people who are helping to care for someone with a disability, illness or a mental health condition.

We looked at simple ways to put together versatile meals using three cans of food the children chose and adding other ingredients commonly found in the store cupboard or fridge including herbs and spices, potatoes and meat.

It was great fun and got us all chatting about our favourite foods and trying new ones too.

Feedback included this great comment from one of the attendees’ parents: “She’s so proud of herself for preparing the full meal! At first, she was a bit shy because everyone seemed to be so confident but when she tasted it and liked it, she started enjoying it.”
