Thank you to our latest supporters

We are grateful to all the funding bodies and companies which support our work whether its financially, in kind or in other ways.

Over the past month we have been delighted that a range of organisations have recognised the importance of empowering people to make better food choices and chosen to donate some of their resources to Food etc.

They include:

Bedford Giving

Bedford Giving has brought together a group of local parents from across Bedford together to form a Parent Panel. They identified clear gaps in services and opportunities for children aged five and under and their parents and were given a pot of money to help them do something about it. They then devised the grants criteria, all about meeting those gaps.

The funds have been provided by the Bedford Giving partners who include The Harpur Trust, The Panacea Society, The Connolly Foundation, The Gale Family Charitable Trust, The Worshipful Company of Founders, St John’s Hospital Trust, Lousada Plc and bpha.

Our application focussed on extending our provision of Kinder Kitchen courses which focus on cookery workshops for parents with their under 5 children and the funding that Bedford Giving has provided will enable us to continue in nurseries where we have already run successful courses as well as extend into new areas.

Sainsbury’s

We were once again successful in being awarded funding as part of the supermarket’s Good food for all of us community grants as a result of our local store nominating Food etc to the grant giving body. The aim of this fund is to support projects that aim to tackle the issues and causes of food poverty.

The Wixamtree Trust

The Wixamtree Trust primarily supports organisations and projects based or operating in Bedfordshire. Since the Trust was established in 2022, £15 million has been donated. Our success application to their trustees will enable Food etc to deliver more courses of cookery workshops to a variety of groups across the county.

Bedford Borough Council – Food Matters

The council invited applications from local established Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations to strengthen their offer and increase access to affordable, healthy food with a particular focus on people and areas in Bedford Borough at highest risk of income and food related inequalities.

They were particularly looking to fund organisations that developed links with schools and family hubs and work in a collaborative way to address food poverty by partnering with other voluntary sector and public sector partners.

Everything Food etc currently does is through collaboration with other voluntary sector and public sector partners. Currently these include the Council’s Family Hubs team, Early Childhood Partnership, Bedford Nursery Schools Federation, Bedford Foodbank, Bedford Women’s Centre, King’s Arms Project Pathways to Employment and various schools primarily working either with headteachers or family support workers.

Being awarded this funding will not only enable us to develop and nurture our existing collaborations it is intended that it will help to us to establish new initiatives with other organisations including IMPAKT and USP CIC.

Lifetimebrands

Sharp knives are one of the most important things when it comes to successful cooking so we were really pleased when Lifetimebrands offered us a supply of colourful paring knives that come with their own protective cases – perfect for large and small hands!
