Volunteering for Food etc given a resounding thumbs up

Bedford based Food etc, which empowers people to make better food choices by teaching them how to cook cheap and healthy meals from scratch, recently asked its volunteers what they thought about their experience of working with Food etc and were delighted with the very positive responses they received.
All volunteers rated the initial contact with Food etc positively, with most feedback indicating satisfaction both with communication style and timeliness. They also all said that they received sufficient support from Food etc to help them carry out their roles effectively.
Asked where they had first heard about Food etc many had been referred by friends and other contacts, several had seen our work reported about in BedsLife and Bedford Independent and some had seen our volunteering opportunities on the CVS database.
In response to being asked why they volunteer most said that they are motivated by a desire to contribute to the community, gain new skills, and connect with like-minded individuals. Others commented that by volunteering with Food etc they had also gained personal benefits such as networking opportunities, increased confidence, and the satisfaction of contributing to a good cause.
Food etc found and director Julie Clay said: “Ensuring our volunteers are happy in their roles and feel well supported is a key focus for us and our recent survey has told us that while we can always improve, we are getting most things right which is great to hear.”
